One of the many beauties of resilient vinyl flooring, including G-Floor® Universal and Garage Flooring, is its easy cleaning and care. There are some great tips we can share to increase the longevity of your already durable vinyl floor protector and reduce permanent staining.
For everyday spills and dirt, the vinyl surface cleans easily with just floor soap and water. Brush or sweep with cool water using a broom or sponge. For loose debris, a vacuum also works great on vinyl floor coverings. Mild soaps and other household detergents suitable for vinyl floors are usually effective in removing most spots. You can wash your flooring for the garage, home or business off inside, or if not permanently installed, many customers like taking G-Floor vinyl flooring rolls and vinyl floor mats outside on the driveway or grass for ease of using a hose.
If you need a deeper clean, normal household vinyl cleaners may be used to increase longevity of your vinyl flooring and remove stubborn stains and debris. We recommend using a non-slip vinyl protector such as a clean-and-shine vinyl floor cleaner. After cleaning, apply a coat of floor polish for vinyl floors to add a long-lasting, high-luster finish, even to older garage, residential and commercial flooring protectors.
Although vinyl for floors is generally stain-resistant, it is not entirely stain-proof. Certain dyes, inks, rubber tires and extremely harsh chemicals may cause permanent staining. Some non-permanent stains simply remove with spray-on Brake and Tool Cleaner without damaging the product and can be found in many auto parts stores. Please note that Brake and Tool Cleaner may cause discoloration.
The quicker you can get to serious stains the better. Never leave harsh detergents or chemicals on roll out vinyl flooring. Also, do not use harmful tar remover or kerosene on G-Floor.
Even though multi-purpose vinyl flooring is slip-resistant, always wipe up any oil, chemicals or other fluids that may drip or leak from vehicles as soon as you notice them to prevent slips and falls. Certain automotive vinyl products may also cause the surface to become slippery and unsafe.
The best rule of thumb when cleaning any kind of vinyl roll out floor mat is to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations to maintain your flooring warranty. The above guidelines are developed for G-Floor, the leading vinyl flooring manufacturer and the developer of the #1 garage floor protector in the world.
